Fairfax Criminal Defense Attorneys: Protecting Your Rights and Your Future

Being charged with a crime can put your job, your family and your freedom at risk. Our defense team moves quickly, explains every step, and works toward the best possible outcome — whether that means a dismissal, a reduced charge or a strong defense at trial.

A criminal charge is not a conviction. You have rights, and the way your case is handled from the very beginning can make a real difference. The criminal defense attorneys at First Point Law Group have decades of combined criminal law experience in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, and we know the courts, the procedures and the people involved.

Charges We Defend

We represent clients facing both misdemeanor and felony charges, including:

  • DUI/DWI and drug offenses
  • Assault and domestic-related charges
  • Theft, fraud and property crimes
  • Reckless driving and serious traffic offenses
  • Probation violations

Every Stage of Your Case

Our lead defense attorney, Jad Sarsour, oversees the defense of criminal charges at every stage, including:

  1. Arraignment
  2. Bail and bond hearings
  3. Preliminary hearings
  4. Trial
  5. Probation and sentencing hearings

We review the evidence carefully — how the stop or arrest happened, what was collected, and whether your rights were respected — and we use what we find to build your defense, in or out of court.

What to Do if You’ve Been Arrested

Stay calm, be respectful, and do not answer questions about the incident without a lawyer. Ask to speak with an attorney, and contact our office as soon as you can. Early guidance often protects options that disappear later.

Protecting Your Future

A conviction can affect employment, professional licenses, immigration status and security clearances. We keep the whole picture in view and explain how each decision may affect your life beyond the courtroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I talk to the police without a lawyer?

You have the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney. Politely decline to discuss the incident and ask to speak with a lawyer. Anything you say can be used in your case.

What happens at an arraignment?

At arraignment you are formally told the charges against you and advised of your rights, including your right to counsel. Having an attorney involved early helps you understand what comes next and prepare.

Can my charges be reduced or dismissed?

Sometimes. It depends on the evidence, how it was obtained, your history and the circumstances of the case. We review everything carefully and pursue every appropriate avenue — including reduction or dismissal — when the facts support it.

Will a criminal charge affect my immigration status or security clearance?

It can. Certain convictions carry immigration consequences, and many charges must be reported for a clearance. We consider those consequences from the start and explain them before you make any decision.
